Spending a day in is a fantastic way to create lasting family memories. Since you want to visit at night, we’ll plan your day around that, keeping in mind the hot July weather. Here’s a fun and family-friendly itinerary for your day in the park on July 5, 2025!
Morning: Rise and Shine!
7:00 AM - Breakfast Start your day with a hearty breakfast! If you’re staying in Moab, grab some breakfast burritos or pancakes at a local favorite like or . Fuel up for a day of adventure!
8:00 AM - Arrive at Get to the park early to beat the heat and the crowds. The entrance fee is $30 per vehicle, valid for 7 days, so you can come back if you want!
8:30 AM - Visitor Center Stop by the to pick up maps, check for any ranger-led programs, and get the latest weather updates. The rangers are super friendly and can give you tips on family-friendly hikes.
Late Morning: Family-Friendly Hikes
9:00 AM - Hike to the Head to the (about a 30-minute drive from the Visitor Center). This area features some of the park's most accessible arches. The is a 1-mile round trip and is perfect for families. You’ll see North Window, South Window, and Turret Arch. The kids will love exploring the rock formations!
10:30 AM - While you’re in the area, take a short walk (just 0.5 miles round trip) to . It’s a stunning sight and a great spot for family photos. The kids can even scramble around the rocks a bit!
Lunch: Picnic Time
12:00 PM - Picnic Lunch Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at one of the designated picnic areas in the park. The is a great spot with beautiful views. Bring plenty of water, as it can get hot!
Afternoon: Explore More
1:00 PM - Short Hike to After lunch, head to Devils Garden and take the easy Trail (1.6 miles round trip). This arch is one of the longest in the world and is a great hike for families. The trail is mostly flat, making it manageable for kids.
3:00 PM - Relax and Hydrate After your hike, find a shady spot to relax and hydrate. Consider bringing a frisbee or a ball to play with the kids while you take a break.
Late Afternoon: Scenic Drive
4:00 PM - Scenic Drive Take a leisurely drive along the . Stop at various viewpoints like and . These stops are quick and easy, allowing you to stretch your legs and take in the stunning views without too much exertion.
Evening: Dinner and
6:00 PM - Dinner in Moab Head back to Moab for an early dinner. Try for some delicious pizza or for a family-friendly atmosphere with great food.
7:30 PM - Return to Arches for Make your way back to the park for the highlight of your day! Arrive at the around 7:30 PM. The hike to is about 3 miles round trip and can take 2-3 hours, so make sure everyone is ready for the adventure!
Night: at Sunset
8:30 PM - Hike to Start your hike to . The trail can be a bit steep and rocky, so keep an eye on the kids and take your time. The views are absolutely worth it!
9:00 PM - Enjoy the Sunset Arrive at just in time for sunset! It’s a breathtaking sight, and the colors of the rocks change beautifully as the sun sets. Take lots of family photos and soak in the moment.
10:00 PM - Stargazing (Optional) If the kids aren’t too tired, consider a little stargazing after sunset. The night sky in Arches is incredible, and you might even catch a glimpse of the Milky Way!
