End the day with a visit to Paro Rinpung Dzong, a stunning fortress-monastery.
Today, embark on an unforgettable hike to the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery, also known as Taktsang. This sacred site clings to a cliffside, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. The hike takes about 4-5 hours round trip, and along the way, you'll pass through beautiful forests and prayer flag-adorned paths. After the hike, relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.
After breakfast, drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. En route, stop at the Tamchog Lhakhang iron bridge, built by the famous Tibetan saint Thangtong Gyalpo. In Thimphu, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a revered Buddhist shrine, and explore the vibrant local markets. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll along the Thimphu River and enjoy the city's lively atmosphere.
Today, drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. On the way, stop at Dochula Pass, where you can admire panoramic views of the Himalayas and visit the beautiful Druk Wangyal Chortens. In Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece located at the confluence of two rivers. Take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the "Fertility Temple," dedicated to the Divine Madman.
Head towards Gangtey, a picturesque valley known for its stunning landscapes and the Gangtey Monastery. En route, visit the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, perched on a ridge overlooking the Punatsangchhu River. In Gangtey, explore the quaint village and take a leisurely walk through the Gangtey Nature Trail, where you might spot black-necked cranes during their migration season.
Return to Paro, enjoying the scenic drive through the Bhutanese countryside. In Paro, visit the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. Explore the charming streets of Paro town, where you can find traditional Bhutanese handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs. In the evening, indulge in a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath to relax and rejuvenate.
After breakfast, bid farewell to Bhutan as you are transferred to Paro International Airport for your onward journey. Take with you memories of the stunning landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality of the Land of the Thunder Dragon.
