Itinerary

Bodrum is a beautiful coastal city in Turkey, and there are plenty of things to do and see. Here's an ideal itinerary for 3 days in Bodrum:

Day 1:

  • Start your day with a delicious Turkish breakfast at one of the local cafes. Try some traditional dishes like menemen (scrambled eggs with tomatoes and peppers) or simit (a sesame-covered bread).
  • After breakfast, head to the Bodrum Castle, which is one of the most famous landmarks in the city. The castle was built by the Knights of St. John in the 15th century and now houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology.
  • Spend the afternoon exploring the narrow streets of the old town, known as Kaleici. You'll find plenty of shops selling souvenirs, jewelry, and textiles. Don't forget to haggle!
  • In the evening, head to the marina and enjoy a seafood dinner at one of the many restaurants overlooking the water.

Day 2:

  • Take a boat tour of the Bodrum Peninsula. You can choose from a variety of tours that will take you to different beaches and coves along the coast. Some tours also include snorkeling and swimming stops.
  • After the boat tour, head to the Bodrum Amphitheater, which dates back to the 4th century BC. The amphitheater is still used for concerts and performances today.
  • Spend the rest of the day relaxing on one of the beaches in Bodrum. Gumbet Beach and Bitez Beach are both popular options.

Day 3:

  • Start your day with a visit to the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Although the mausoleum is now in ruins, it's still an impressive sight.
  • Next, head to the Bodrum Market, which is held every Tuesday. You'll find everything from fresh produce to handmade crafts.
  • In the afternoon, take a Turkish cooking class and learn how to make some traditional dishes like dolma (stuffed grape leaves) or baklava (a sweet pastry).
  • In the evening, head to one of the rooftop bars in Bodrum and enjoy a cocktail while watching the sunset over the city.
