Itinerary

Budapest is a beautiful city with so much to see and do. Here's an ideal itinerary for 2 days in Budapest:

Day 1:

  • Start your day with a visit to the Hungarian Parliament Building, one of the most iconic landmarks in Budapest. You can take a guided tour inside the building to learn about its history and architecture.
  • After that, head over to Fisherman's Bastion, a stunning terrace with panoramic views of the city. It's a great spot for taking photos and enjoying the scenery.
  • From there, walk down to Matthias Church, a beautiful Gothic church with colorful tiled roofs. You can also explore the surrounding area, which is full of charming streets and cafes.
  • For lunch, try some traditional Hungarian dishes like goulash or chimney cake at a local restaurant.
  • In the afternoon, visit the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, one of the largest and most famous thermal baths in Europe. Relax in the hot pools and saunas, or book a massage or other spa treatment.
  • End your day with a sunset river cruise on the Danube, where you can admire the city's illuminated landmarks from the water.

Day 2:

  • Start your day with a visit to Heroes' Square, a grand plaza with statues of Hungary's most important historical figures. You can also visit the nearby Museum of Fine Arts or the Palace of Art.
  • From there, take a stroll through City Park, a large green space with a lake, a castle, and several museums. You can rent a bike or a boat, or simply enjoy a picnic in the park.
  • For lunch, head to the Great Market Hall, a bustling indoor market with stalls selling fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and souvenirs. Try some local specialties like lángos or paprika.
  • In the afternoon, visit St. Stephen's Basilica, a magnificent neoclassical church with a panoramic view from the dome. You can also see the mummified hand of St. Stephen, Hungary's first king.
  • Finally, end your day with a visit to the Buda Castle District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with historic buildings, museums, and galleries. You can take a funicular up to the castle, or walk up the hill for some exercise. Don't miss the stunning views of the city from the top!

I hope this itinerary helps you plan your trip to Budapest!
