Itinerary

Budapest is a beautiful city with so much to see and do. Here's an ideal itinerary for 4 days in Budapest:

Day 1:

  • Start your day by visiting the Hungarian Parliament Building, one of the most iconic landmarks in Budapest. You can take a guided tour inside the building to learn about its history and architecture.
  • After that, head to Fisherman's Bastion, a stunning terrace with panoramic views of the city. It's also a great spot for taking photos.
  • Next, visit Matthias Church, a beautiful Gothic church located next to Fisherman's Bastion. The interior is just as impressive as the exterior.
  • In the evening, head to Széchenyi Thermal Bath, one of the largest thermal baths in Europe. Relax in the hot pools and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Day 2:

  • Start your day by visiting St. Stephen's Basilica, a magnificent neoclassical church with a dome that offers amazing views of the city.
  • Next, head to Heroes' Square, a large square with statues of important Hungarian historical figures. You can also visit the nearby Museum of Fine Arts or the Palace of Art.
  • In the afternoon, take a stroll along Andrássy Avenue, a beautiful boulevard lined with shops, cafes, and historic buildings. Don't miss the Hungarian State Opera House, which is located on this avenue.
  • In the evening, head to ruin bars in the Jewish Quarter, such as Szimpla Kert or Instant. These bars are located in abandoned buildings and have a unique atmosphere.

Day 3:

  • Start your day by visiting Buda Castle, a historic castle complex that houses several museums and galleries. You can also enjoy the beautiful views of the Danube River from here.
  • Next, visit the Hospital in the Rock Museum, a fascinating museum located in a former hospital and nuclear bunker. You can learn about the history of the hospital and how it was used during World War II and the Cold War.
  • In the afternoon, take a cruise on the Danube River to see the city from a different perspective. You can also enjoy a dinner cruise with live music in the evening.
  • In the evening, head to the Great Market Hall, a large indoor market where you can buy souvenirs, local food, and drinks.

Day 4:

  • Start your day by visiting Gellért Hill, a hill that offers stunning views of the city. You can also visit the Citadella, a fortress located on top of the hill.
  • Next, visit the Széchenyi Chain Bridge, the oldest and most famous bridge in Budapest. You can walk across the bridge or take a boat tour under it.
  • In the afternoon, visit the House of Terror Museum, a museum that tells the story of Hungary's fascist and communist regimes. It's a sobering but important experience.
  • In the evening, head to a traditional Hungarian restaurant to try some local dishes, such as goulash or chimney cake.

I hope this itinerary helps you plan your trip to Budapest!
