Itinerary

Here's an ideal itinerary for 3 days in Cardiff:

Day 1:

Start your day with a visit to the iconic Cardiff Castle. This medieval castle is located right in the heart of the city and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Take a guided tour to learn about the history of the castle and its role in Welsh culture.

After exploring the castle, head over to the National Museum Cardiff. This museum houses a vast collection of art and artifacts from Wales and around the world. Be sure to check out the impressive dinosaur exhibit!

For lunch, grab a bite at one of the many cafes or restaurants in the city center. We recommend trying some traditional Welsh dishes like cawl (a hearty soup) or Welsh rarebit (a cheesy toast).

In the afternoon, take a stroll through Bute Park. This beautiful park is located just behind Cardiff Castle and offers plenty of green space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Finish off your day with a show at the Wales Millennium Centre. This performing arts center hosts a variety of shows throughout the year, from musicals to ballets to concerts.

Day 2:

Start your day with a visit to St Fagans National Museum of History. This open-air museum showcases Welsh life throughout the centuries, with over 40 historic buildings to explore.

Afterwards, head over to Cardiff Bay. This waterfront area is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions. Take a boat tour of the bay or visit the Doctor Who Experience to see props and costumes from the popular TV show.

For lunch, try some fresh seafood at one of the many restaurants in the bay area. We recommend the famous fish and chips from The Dock.

In the afternoon, visit the Principality Stadium. This massive stadium is home to the Welsh rugby team and also hosts concerts and other events throughout the year. Take a guided tour to learn about the stadium's history and see behind the scenes.

Finish off your day with a drink at one of the many pubs in the city center. We recommend The City Arms, which has been serving beer since 1883.

Day 3:

Start your day with a visit to Cardiff Bay Barrage. This impressive structure spans across the bay and offers stunning views of the water and surrounding area. Take a walk or bike ride along the barrage to enjoy the scenery.

Afterwards, head over to the Cardiff Market. This indoor market has been around since the 1700s and offers a variety of food, clothing, and other goods. Be sure to try some Welsh cakes while you're there!

For lunch, grab a sandwich or salad from one of the many cafes in the city center. We recommend Coffee Barker for their delicious coffee and fresh sandwiches.

In the afternoon, visit the Llandaff Cathedral. This beautiful cathedral dates back to the 12th century and features stunning stained glass windows and intricate architecture.

Finish off your day with a visit to the Cardiff Bay Wetlands Reserve. This nature reserve is home to a variety of birds and other wildlife, and offers plenty of walking trails to explore.
