25 day itinerary for Central America

Central America is a beautiful region with so much to offer. Here's an ideal itinerary for 25 days in Central America:

Day 1-2: Start your trip in San Jose, Costa Rica. Spend the first day exploring the city and its many museums, parks, and markets. On the second day, take a day trip to the nearby Poas Volcano National Park.

Day 3-4: Head to La Fortuna, Costa Rica, home to the famous Arenal Volcano. Spend the day hiking around the volcano and relaxing in the hot springs. On the second day, go on a zip-lining or rafting adventure.

Day 5-6: Travel to Monteverde, Costa Rica, known for its cloud forests and wildlife. Take a guided tour of the forest and visit the butterfly and hummingbird gardens.

Day 7-8: Cross the border into Nicaragua and head to Granada, a charming colonial town. Explore the colorful streets and visit the Masaya Volcano National Park.

Day 9-10: Travel to Ometepe Island, Nicaragua, located in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. Hike up one of the two volcanoes on the island and relax on the beaches.

Day 11-12: Head to Leon, Nicaragua, another colonial town with a rich history. Visit the Cathedral of Leon and climb to the top for stunning views of the city.

Day 13-14: Travel to El Salvador and visit the capital city of San Salvador. Explore the historic downtown area and visit the National Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Day 15-16: Head to the beach town of El Tunco, El Salvador. Relax on the black sand beaches and go surfing or paddleboarding.

Day 17-18: Travel to Antigua, Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the cobblestone streets and visit the many churches and ruins.

Day 19-20: Head to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, known for its stunning views and indigenous culture. Take a boat tour of the lake and visit the many small villages around it.

Day 21-22: Travel to Tikal, Guatemala, home to one of the largest Mayan ruins in Central America. Spend the day exploring the ancient temples and pyramids.

Day 23-24: Head to Copan, Honduras, another important Mayan site. Visit the ruins and the nearby Macaw Mountain Bird Park.

Day 25: Return to San Jose, Costa Rica, for your flight home.
