Itinerary

Hokkaido is a beautiful place with so much to see and do. Here's an ideal itinerary for 6 days in Hokkaido:

Day 1: Arrival in Sapporo

• Arrive at New Chitose Airport and take the train or bus to Sapporo
• Check into your hotel and explore the city
• Visit the Sapporo Beer Museum and try some local brews
• Have dinner at one of Sapporo's famous seafood restaurants

Day 2: Otaru Day Trip

• Take a train or bus to Otaru, a charming port town known for its glassware and music boxes
• Visit the Otaru Canal and take a stroll along the waterfront
• Explore the Sakaimachi Street shopping district and browse the many shops selling souvenirs and local crafts
• Enjoy a seafood lunch at one of the many restaurants in the area
• Return to Sapporo in the evening and have dinner at a local izakaya (Japanese pub)

Day 3: Furano and Biei Day Trip

• Take a train or bus to Furano and Biei, two picturesque towns known for their lavender fields and rolling hills
• Visit the Tomita Farm and see the beautiful lavender fields (best visited in July and August)
• Explore the Shikisai no Oka flower gardens and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding countryside
• Have lunch at a local restaurant and try some of the delicious local produce, such as melons and corn
• Return to Sapporo in the evening and have dinner at a local ramen shop

Day 4: Asahikawa Day Trip

• Take a train or bus to Asahikawa, the second-largest city in Hokkaido
• Visit the Asahiyama Zoo and see the many animals that call Hokkaido home, including polar bears and penguins
• Explore the Asahikawa Ramen Village and try some of the best ramen in Hokkaido
• Visit the Otokoyama Sake Brewery and learn about the history of sake production in Hokkaido
• Return to Sapporo in the evening and have dinner at a local yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurant

Day 5: Sapporo City Tour

• Take a walking tour of Sapporo and visit some of the city's most famous landmarks, such as the Clock Tower and Odori Park
• Visit the Sapporo TV Tower and enjoy the panoramic views of the city from the observation deck
• Explore the Nijo Market and try some of the fresh seafood that Hokkaido is famous for
• Visit the Hokkaido Shrine and learn about the history and culture of the Ainu people, the indigenous people of Hokkaido
• Have dinner at a local sushi restaurant and try some of the freshest sushi you'll ever taste

Day 6: Departure from Sapporo

• Check out of your hotel and take the train or bus back to New Chitose Airport
• If you have time before your flight, visit the Doraemon Wakuwaku Sky Park and enjoy the many interactive exhibits based on the popular Japanese cartoon character
• Say goodbye to Hokkaido and board your flight home, taking with you memories that will last a lifetime.
