Itinerary

Iceland is a beautiful country with so much to offer. Here's an ideal itinerary for 6 days in Iceland:

Day 1: Arrival and Reykjavik Exploration

  • Arrive at Keflavik International Airport and take the Flybus or taxi to your hotel in Reykjavik.
  • Spend the day exploring the city of Reykjavik, starting with a visit to Hallgrimskirkja, the iconic church that offers stunning views of the city from its tower.
  • Walk around the colorful streets of the city center, stopping by the Harpa Concert Hall and the Sun Voyager sculpture along the way.
  • End the day with a soak in one of Reykjavik's many geothermal pools, such as the famous Blue Lagoon.

Day 2: Golden Circle Tour

  • Take a guided tour of the Golden Circle, which includes three of Iceland's most popular attractions: Thingvellir National Park, Geysir geothermal area, and Gullfoss waterfall.
  • At Thingvellir, you can walk between the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia, while at Geysir, you can witness the powerful eruptions of Strokkur geyser.
  • End the day with a visit to Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most impressive waterfalls.

Day 3: South Coast Adventure

  • Take a guided tour of Iceland's stunning south coast, which includes stops at Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, Reynisfjara black sand beach, and the charming village of Vik.
  • Along the way, you'll see glaciers, mountains, and vast stretches of rugged coastline.

Day 4: Snæfellsnes Peninsula

  • Take a guided tour of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, which is often called "Iceland in miniature" because it showcases so many of the country's natural wonders in one place.
  • Highlights of the tour include the iconic Kirkjufell mountain, the charming fishing village of Arnarstapi, and the stunning black pebble beach at Djupalonssandur.

Day 5: Reykjanes Peninsula

  • Take a self-guided tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula, which is home to some of Iceland's most unique geological features.
  • Highlights of the tour include the geothermal area of Gunnuhver, the Bridge Between Continents, and the Blue Lagoon (if you didn't visit on ## Day 1).

Day 6: Departure

  • Depending on your flight time, you may have some free time to explore Reykjavik or do some last-minute souvenir shopping before heading to the airport for your flight home.

I hope this itinerary helps you plan your solo trip to Iceland!
