Itinerary

Istanbul is a beautiful city with so much to see and do. Here's an ideal itinerary for 3 days in Istanbul:

Day 1:

Start your day by visiting the iconic Hagia Sophia, which was once a church, then a mosque, and now a museum. The architecture and history of this building are truly breathtaking. After that, head over to the Blue Mosque, which is just across the street from Hagia Sophia. This mosque is known for its stunning blue tiles and intricate design.

For lunch, try some traditional Turkish cuisine at one of the many restaurants in the Sultanahmet area. After lunch, take a stroll through the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. You can find everything from spices to jewelry to textiles here.

In the evening, head to the Galata Tower for panoramic views of the city. You can also enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants in the area.

Day 2:

Start your day by visiting Topkapi Palace, which was once the residence of Ottoman sultans. The palace is now a museum and houses many artifacts from the Ottoman Empire. After that, head over to the Basilica Cistern, an underground water reservoir that dates back to the Byzantine era.

For lunch, try some delicious street food like simit (a type of bread) or doner kebab. In the afternoon, take a boat tour along the Bosphorus Strait, which separates Europe and Asia. You'll get to see some of Istanbul's most famous landmarks from the water, including the Maiden's Tower and the Dolmabahce Palace.

In the evening, head to Taksim Square, which is known for its nightlife. You can find plenty of bars, clubs, and restaurants in the area.

Day 3:

Start your day by visiting the Spice Bazaar, where you can find a variety of spices, teas, and sweets. After that, head over to the Chora Church, which is known for its beautiful mosaics and frescoes.

For lunch, try some seafood at one of the many restaurants along the Bosphorus. In the afternoon, visit the Istanbul Archaeological Museums, which house artifacts from ancient civilizations like the Greeks, Romans, and Ottomans.

In the evening, head to Ortakoy, a charming neighborhood on the Bosphorus. You can find plenty of cafes, bars, and restaurants here, as well as street performers and artists. Don't forget to try some of the famous Turkish baklava before you leave!
