Itinerary

Day 1:

Welcome to Kathmandu! Start your day by exploring the heart of the city, Thamel. This vibrant neighborhood is filled with narrow streets, colorful shops, and bustling markets. Take your time to wander around, shop for souvenirs, and try some local street food.

In the afternoon, visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at the ancient temples, palaces, and courtyards that showcase the rich history and architecture of the city. Don't miss the famous Kumari House, where you might catch a glimpse of the living goddess.

End your day with a visit to the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple. Climb the steps to reach the hilltop and enjoy panoramic views of the city. Observe the monkeys playing around the stupa and soak in the spiritual atmosphere as you witness the evening prayers.

Day 2:

Embark on an early morning adventure to witness the sunrise over the Himalayas. Drive to Nagarkot, a hill station located just outside Kathmandu. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks, including Mount Everest on a clear day. Take a leisurely hike around the area and immerse yourself in the serene surroundings.

In the afternoon, head back to Kathmandu and visit the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples in Nepal. Observe the rituals and ceremonies taking place along the banks of the Bagmati River. This temple complex is also home to many sadhus (holy men) who can provide insights into Hindu spirituality.

Day 3:

Today, venture out of the city to explore the ancient city of Bhaktapur. Known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, Bhaktapur is a living museum. Stroll through the narrow alleys, visit the Durbar Square, and admire the intricately carved wooden temples. Don't forget to try the famous Juju Dhau (King Curd) and explore the pottery square, where you can witness traditional pottery-making techniques.

In the afternoon, visit the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world. Walk around the stupa, spin the prayer wheels, and observe the locals and monks performing their rituals. Enjoy a cup of Tibetan tea or indulge in some momos (dumplings) at one of the rooftop cafes overlooking the stupa.

Day 4:

On your last day, take a short drive to Patan, also known as Lalitpur, another ancient city in the Kathmandu Valley. Explore the Patan Durbar Square, which is renowned for its exquisite Newari architecture. Visit the Patan Museum, housed in a former palace, to learn about the history and art of the region.

Afterward, visit the Garden of Dreams, a tranquil oasis in the heart of Kathmandu. Relax in the beautifully landscaped gardens, enjoy a cup of tea at the café, and reflect on your journey through the city.

In the evening, treat yourself to a traditional Nepali dinner with cultural performances at one of the many restaurants in Thamel. Indulge in local delicacies like dal bhat (lentil soup with rice), momos, and sel roti (a sweet rice bread).

Remember to take some time to simply wander the streets, interact with the friendly locals, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Kathmandu. Enjoy your stay in this enchanting city!
