Madeira is a beautiful island with so much to see and do. Here's an ideal itinerary for 5 days in Madeira:

Day 1: Arrival and Funchal City Tour

• Arrive at Madeira Airport and check into your hotel in Funchal
• Take a stroll around the city center and visit the Mercado dos Lavradores, a colorful market selling fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers
• Visit the Sé Cathedral, a beautiful Gothic-style cathedral located in the heart of Funchal
• Take a cable car ride up to Monte Palace Tropical Garden, a stunning botanical garden with exotic plants and waterfalls
