Itinerary

Maine is such a beautiful state, and it’s perfect for a family getaway, especially with your furry friend in tow. Here’s a fun and family-friendly 2-day itinerary that will let you soak in the natural beauty, enjoy some delicious food, and have a great time together!

## Day 1: Coastal Adventures in Acadia National Park

Morning:

  • Breakfast at a Local Café: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at a dog-friendly café in Bar Harbor, like Choco-Latte. They have delicious pastries and coffee, and you can grab a seat outside with your pup!

  • Acadia National Park: After breakfast, head over to Acadia National Park. There are plenty of dog-friendly trails, but I recommend the Jordan Pond Path. It’s a lovely 3.5-mile loop that offers stunning views of the pond and the Bubbles mountains. Plus, it’s relatively easy for the whole family!

Afternoon:

  • Picnic Lunch: Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at one of the park’s scenic spots. The Jordan Pond House is famous for its popovers, but you can also bring your own food and enjoy it with a view!

  • Explore the Park Loop Road: After lunch, take a scenic drive along the Park Loop Road. Stop at Sand Beach for a quick stroll (dogs are allowed on the beach before 9 AM and after 5 PM) and check out the Thunder Hole for some impressive ocean waves crashing against the rocks.

Evening:

  • Dinner in Bar Harbor: Head back to Bar Harbor for dinner. The Side Street Café is a great option with a dog-friendly patio. They have a variety of dishes, including seafood and burgers, that the whole family will enjoy.

  • Sunset at Cadillac Mountain: If you have time, drive up to Cadillac Mountain for a breathtaking sunset view. It’s a perfect way to end your first day in Maine!

## Day 2: Charming Towns and Nature

Morning:

  • Breakfast at a Local Diner: Start your day with breakfast at Jeannie's Breakfast in Bar Harbor. They have a cozy atmosphere and delicious breakfast options.

  • Visit the Coastal Town of Camden: After breakfast, take a scenic drive to Camden (about an hour away). This charming town is known for its beautiful harbor and quaint shops.

Afternoon:

  • Explore Camden Hills State Park: Spend some time at Camden Hills State Park. There are several dog-friendly trails, and the Megunticook Trail offers stunning views of the coastline. It’s a bit of a hike, but the views are worth it!

  • Lunch in Camden: After your hike, grab lunch at The Waterfront. They have outdoor seating where your dog can join you, and the seafood is fresh and delicious!

Evening:

  • Stroll Around Camden: After lunch, take a leisurely stroll around Camden’s harbor. You can check out the local shops and maybe grab some ice cream at Camden Cone.

  • Dinner at a Local Eatery: For dinner, head to The Owl & Turtle Bookshop and Café. It’s a cozy spot with a great menu, and they welcome dogs on the patio.

  • Relaxing Evening: After dinner, you can either head back to Bar Harbor or find a cozy spot to relax and enjoy the evening. If you’re up for it, a little evening walk along the waterfront is a lovely way to end your trip!

Tips:

  • Always check the pet policies of the places you plan to visit, as they can vary.
  • Bring plenty of water and snacks for your dog, especially during hikes.
  • Don’t forget to pack a leash and some doggy bags for clean-up!

I hope this itinerary helps you have a fantastic time in Maine with your family and furry friend! Enjoy the beautiful scenery, delicious food, and quality time together! 🐾🌲🌊
