Mexico is a beautiful country with so much to offer. Here's an ideal itinerary for 4 days in Mexico:
Day 1: Arrival in Mexico City
- Start your day by exploring the historic center of Mexico City, which is home to many iconic landmarks such as the Zocalo, the National Palace, and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
- After that, head to the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as the Blue House, which was the artist's former home and now serves as a museum dedicated to her life and work.
- In the evening, visit the trendy neighborhood of Condesa, where you can enjoy some delicious Mexican cuisine and drinks.
- Take a day trip to the ancient city of Teotihuacan, which is located just outside of Mexico City. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to some of the most impressive pyramids in the world, including the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon.
- After exploring Teotihuacan, head to Xochimilco, which is known for its colorful boats called trajineras. You can take a ride on one of these boats while enjoying some traditional Mexican food and drinks.
- Fly to Cancun and take a day trip to Tulum, which is located about 2 hours south of Cancun. Tulum is known for its stunning beaches and ancient Mayan ruins, which are perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
- Spend the day exploring the ruins and soaking up the sun on the beach. You can also go snorkeling or scuba diving in the crystal-clear waters.
- Take another day trip from Cancun to Chichen Itza, which is one of the most famous archaeological sites in Mexico. This ancient Mayan city is home to the iconic El Castillo pyramid, as well as many other impressive structures.
- After exploring Chichen Itza, head to Cenote Ik Kil, which is a natural swimming hole located nearby. You can take a refreshing dip in the cool, clear water and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before heading back to Cancun.
