Itinerary

The Northeast region of the United States is full of history, culture, and natural beauty. Here's an ideal itinerary for 3 days in the Northeast:

Day 1:

Start your day in Boston, Massachusetts, by exploring the Freedom Trail. This 2.5-mile trail takes you through 16 historical sites that tell the story of the American Revolution. You'll see famous landmarks like the Massachusetts State House, Paul Revere's House, and the Old North Church.

After lunch, head to Salem, Massachusetts, which is about a 30-minute drive from Boston. Salem is known for its witch trials in the late 1600s, and you can learn all about this dark period in history at the Salem Witch Museum. You can also visit the House of the Seven Gables, which was made famous by Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel of the same name.

End your day with a seafood dinner at one of the many restaurants on Salem's waterfront.

Day 2:

Today, you'll head north to Portland, Maine. Start your day with a visit to the Portland Head Light, which is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country. From there, take a stroll through the Old Port district, which is full of charming shops, galleries, and restaurants.

For lunch, head to Eventide Oyster Co., which is known for its delicious lobster rolls and oysters. After lunch, take a scenic drive up the coast to Acadia National Park. Spend the afternoon hiking or biking on one of the park's many trails, or take a scenic drive along the Park Loop Road.

End your day with a sunset dinner at Jordan Pond House, which is known for its popovers and stunning views of Jordan Pond.

Day 3:

On your final day, head to Newport, Rhode Island. Start your day with a tour of the famous Newport Mansions, which were built by wealthy families in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Breakers, Marble House, and Rosecliff are all must-see mansions.

After lunch, take a stroll along the Cliff Walk, which is a 3.5-mile path that runs along the coast and offers stunning views of the ocean and the mansions. You can also visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame or take a sailboat tour of Newport Harbor.

End your day with a seafood dinner at one of Newport's many waterfront restaurants, and toast to a wonderful trip in the Northeast!
