Itinerary

Porto is such a vibrant city with a rich history, stunning architecture, and delicious food. Let’s make the most of your three days there! Since you’re arriving on Friday night, I’ll start from there.

Friday Night: Arrival

  • Check-in at 3K Porto Aéroporto: After your journey, settle into your hotel. Since you’re on a bed & breakfast package, you might want to grab a light snack if you’re hungry.
  • Evening Stroll: If you’re not too tired, take a leisurely walk around the area near your hotel. Porto is beautiful at night, and you can soak in the atmosphere. If you’re up for it, find a nearby café for a glass of Port wine to kick off your trip!

Saturday: Exploring the Heart of Porto

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel: Enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel your day.
  • Ribeira District: Head to the iconic Ribeira district. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site with colorful buildings and stunning views of the Douro River. Take your time wandering the narrow streets and snapping photos.

Midday:

  • Lunch at a Local Eatery: Try a Francesinha, a local sandwich that’s a must-try! You can find many places in the Ribeira area that serve this delicious dish.
  • Visit Livraria Lello: After lunch, make your way to Livraria Lello, one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. The stunning architecture and the famous staircase are worth the visit!

Afternoon:

  • Clérigos Tower: Just a short walk from the bookstore, climb the Clérigos Tower for panoramic views of the city. It’s a bit of a climb, but the view is absolutely worth it!
  • São Bento Railway Station: Head to São Bento to see the beautiful azulejos (ceramic tiles) that depict historical scenes of Portugal. It’s a great spot for some photos!

Evening:

  • Dinner in the Cedofeita Area: Explore the Cedofeita neighborhood for dinner. There are plenty of cozy restaurants where you can enjoy local cuisine.
  • Fado Music: If you’re up for it, find a Fado house to experience traditional Portuguese music. It’s a soulful experience that captures the essence of Portuguese culture.

Sunday: Wine and Views

Morning:

  • Breakfast at the Hotel: Start your day with a good breakfast.
  • Port Wine Cellars: Take a short walk or a tram ride to Vila Nova de Gaia, where you can visit some of the famous Port wine cellars. Many offer tours and tastings, so you can learn about the wine-making process and sample some delicious Port!

Midday:

  • Lunch with a View: After your wine tasting, have lunch at one of the riverside restaurants in Gaia. Enjoy the view of Porto while you eat!
  • Dom Luís I Bridge: Walk back to Porto via the Dom Luís I Bridge. The views from the top are breathtaking, and it’s a great photo opportunity.

Afternoon:

  • Palácio da Bolsa: Visit the Stock Exchange Palace, known for its stunning architecture and the famous Arabian Room. It’s a fascinating place to learn about Porto’s history.
  • Mercado do Bolhão: If you have time, check out this traditional market. It’s a great place to pick up some local snacks or souvenirs.

Evening:

  • Dinner in the Ribeira District: For your last meal in Porto, head back to the Ribeira district. Enjoy a nice dinner with a view of the river. Try some seafood dishes, as they are a highlight of the local cuisine.
  • Evening Walk: After dinner, take a final stroll along the river. The city lights reflecting on the water create a magical atmosphere.

Departure

  • Head Back to the Hotel: Make sure to pack up and check out of your hotel. Depending on your flight time, you might have a little extra time to grab a coffee or a pastry before heading to the airport.
