2 day itinerary for San Francisco

Itinerary

San Francisco is such a vibrant city with so much to see and do, and I’m excited to help you make the most of your two days there. Since you’re staying at the Hotel Bijou, which is conveniently located near Union Square, you’ll have easy access to many attractions. Let’s dive into your itinerary!

## Day 1: March 31

Morning:

• Breakfast at a Local Café: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at a nearby café. Try Mymy or The Grove for some delicious options.
• Union Square: After breakfast, take a stroll around Union Square. Enjoy the art installations, do a little shopping, or just soak in the atmosphere.

Mid-Morning:

• Chinatown: Head over to Chinatown, which is just a short walk away. Explore the vibrant streets, visit the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, and maybe pick up some souvenirs. Don’t forget to check out the beautiful Dragon Gate!

Lunch:

• Lunch in Chinatown: Grab a bite at Yank Sing for some dim sum or R&G Lounge for some authentic Chinese dishes.

Afternoon:

• Fisherman’s Wharf: After lunch, make your way to Fisherman’s Wharf. You can take the historic cable car from Powell Street to the Wharf. Enjoy the views and maybe stop by Pier 39 to see the sea lions.
• Alcatraz Tour: Make sure to arrive at Alcatraz by 15:55 for your tour. The ferry ride offers stunning views of the Bay and the city skyline. Once on the island, explore the infamous prison and learn about its history. The audio tour is a must!

Evening:

• Dinner at Fisherman’s Wharf: After your Alcatraz tour, enjoy a seafood dinner at Scoma’s or Alioto’s. Fresh clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl is a classic!
• Evening Stroll: If you have energy left, take a leisurely walk along the waterfront and enjoy the views of the Bay Bridge lit up at night.

## Day 2: April 1

Morning:

• Breakfast at Hotel Bijou: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel or head to Dottie’s True Blue Café for some amazing pancakes.
• Golden Gate Park: Take a bus or rideshare to Golden Gate Park. Explore the park’s beautiful gardens, including the Japanese Tea Garden and the Conservatory of Flowers. If you’re up for it, rent a bike to cover more ground!

Lunch:

• Picnic in the Park: Grab some takeout from a nearby café or deli and enjoy a picnic in the park. The Park Chalet is a great option if you want to dine in.

Afternoon:

• Haight-Ashbury: After lunch, head to the iconic Haight-Ashbury district. Explore the vintage shops, record stores, and colorful murals that celebrate the 1960s counterculture.
• Mission District: Next, take a bus or rideshare to the Mission District. Check out the stunning murals in Balmy Alley and grab a famous Mission burrito at La Taqueria or El Farolito.

Evening:

• Dinner in the Mission: Enjoy dinner at one of the trendy restaurants in the area. Foreign Cinema is a fantastic choice, where you can enjoy a meal while watching classic films projected on the wall.
• Nightcap: If you’re up for it, head to a local bar for a nightcap. Tacko has a great rooftop bar with views of the city.

Tips:

• Public Transport: Use Muni or BART for easy travel around the city. The Muni Passport is a great option for unlimited rides.
• Dress in Layers: San Francisco weather can be unpredictable, so be sure to dress in layers!
