Itinerary

Tokyo is an amazing city with so much to see and do. Here's a suggested itinerary for 5 days in Tokyo that I think you and your husband will love:

Day 1: Arrival and Exploration

  • Arrive at Narita or Haneda airport and take the train to your hotel.
  • After checking in, head out to explore the city. Start by visiting the famous Shibuya Crossing, one of the busiest intersections in the world.
  • From there, walk to Harajuku, a trendy neighborhood known for its fashion and street food. Check out Takeshita Street, a pedestrian-only street lined with shops selling everything from cute accessories to crepes.
  • In the evening, head to Shinjuku, another bustling neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and bars.

Day 2: Traditional Tokyo

  • Start the day by visiting the Meiji Shrine, a beautiful Shinto shrine located in a forested area in the heart of Tokyo.
  • From there, head to Asakusa, a historic district with a lively atmosphere and plenty of traditional shops and restaurants. Visit Sensoji Temple, Tokyo's oldest temple, and Nakamise-dori, a shopping street that leads up to the temple.
  • In the evening, head to Odaiba, a man-made island with stunning views of Tokyo Bay. Take a stroll along the waterfront and enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants in the area.

Day 3: Modern Tokyo

  • Start the day by visiting the Tokyo Skytree, the tallest tower in Japan and one of the tallest structures in the world. Enjoy panoramic views of the city from the observation deck.
  • From there, head to Akihabara, a neighborhood known for its electronics shops and anime culture. Explore the many shops and arcades in the area.
  • In the evening, head to Roppongi, a popular nightlife district with plenty of bars and clubs.

Day 4: Day Trip to Mount Fuji

  • Take a day trip to Mount Fuji, one of Japan's most iconic landmarks. You can take a bus or train from Tokyo to the base of the mountain, and then take a cable car or hike up to the summit.
  • Enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside and take plenty of photos to remember your trip.

Day 5: Food and Shopping

  • Start the day by visiting Tsukiji Fish Market, one of the largest fish markets in the world. Watch the auction and enjoy some fresh sushi for breakfast.
  • From there, head to Ginza, a high-end shopping district with plenty of luxury boutiques and department stores.
  • In the evening, head to Shinjuku again and explore the many izakayas (Japanese-style pubs) in the area. Try some local dishes and drinks and soak up the lively atmosphere.
