Vietnam is a beautiful country with so much to offer. Here's an ideal itinerary for 9 days in Vietnam that will allow you to explore the best of what this country has to offer:
Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, you'll be picked up by your driver and transferred to your hotel in Hanoi. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city on foot, visiting the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, and the Temple of Literature.
Start your day with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, followed by the One Pillar Pagoda and the Presidential Palace. After lunch, visit the Museum of Ethnology and the Ngoc Son Temple. In the evening, enjoy a traditional water puppet show.
Take a scenic drive to Halong Bay, where you'll board a traditional junk boat for a cruise around the bay. Enjoy lunch on board while admiring the stunning scenery of limestone cliffs and emerald waters. Visit a fishing village and go kayaking before returning to your boat for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the bay before returning to Hanoi. Take a flight to Hue and check into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the Imperial Citadel and the Thien Mu Pagoda.
Visit the tombs of Emperor Tu Duc and Khai Dinh, as well as the Dong Ba Market. In the afternoon, take a boat ride along the Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda and enjoy the sunset.
Take a scenic drive to Hoi An, stopping at the Hai Van Pass and the Marble Mountains along the way. Check into your hotel in Hoi An and spend the rest of the day exploring the ancient town, visiting the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Chinese Assembly Hall, and the Tan Ky Old House.
Take a half-day trip to the My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was once the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom. Return to Hoi An in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Take a flight to Ho Chi Minh City and check into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city, visiting the War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace, and the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Take a half-day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground network used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Return to Ho Chi Minh City for lunch before transferring to the airport for your departure flight.
I hope this itinerary helps you plan your trip to Vietnam!
