Xi'an is a city rich in history and culture, and there's so much to see and do. Here's an ideal itinerary for 3 days in Xi'an:
Day 1:
- Morning: Start your day by visiting the , one of the most famous attractions in Xi'an. This museum is home to thousands of life-sized terracotta soldiers, horses, and chariots that were buried with the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, over 2,000 years ago.
- Afternoon: After lunch, head to the ancient city wall, which is the largest and best-preserved city wall in China. You can rent a bike and ride along the wall, or simply walk and enjoy the views of the city from above.
- Evening: End your day by visiting the , a bustling area filled with food stalls, souvenir shops, and historic mosques. Try some of the local street food, such as roujiamo (Chinese hamburger) or yangrou paomo (lamb soup with bread).
Day 2:
- Morning: Start your day by visiting the , which houses over 370,000 artifacts from the region's rich history. You can learn about the ancient dynasties that ruled Xi'an and see some of the most important cultural relics in China.
- Afternoon: After lunch, head to the , a Buddhist pagoda that was built in the 7th century. You can climb to the top for panoramic views of the city, or simply explore the temple grounds and learn about the history of Buddhism in China.
- Evening: End your day by watching the , a performance that showcases traditional Chinese music, dance, and costumes from the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). The show is held in a theater near the .
Day 3:
- Morning: Start your day by visiting the , a hot spring resort that was once the site of a royal palace during the Tang Dynasty. You can soak in the hot springs and learn about the history of the palace and its famous residents, such as Emperor Xuanzong and his concubine Yang Guifei.
