Itinerary

Zanzibar is a beautiful island with a rich history and culture. Here's an ideal itinerary for 3 days in Zanzibar:

Day 1:

  • Start your day with a visit to Stone Town, the historic heart of Zanzibar. Explore the narrow streets, admire the beautiful architecture, and visit the famous landmarks such as the House of Wonders and the Old Fort.
  • After lunch, head to the beach for some relaxation and water activities. Zanzibar has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, so make sure to take advantage of them. You can go snorkeling, scuba diving, or simply soak up the sun.
  • In the evening, enjoy a sunset dhow cruise. A dhow is a traditional sailing boat used by fishermen in Zanzibar. You can enjoy the beautiful sunset while sipping on some refreshing drinks and nibbling on some snacks.

Day 2:

  • Start your day with a visit to Jozani Forest, the only national park in Zanzibar. Here, you can see the famous red colobus monkeys, as well as other wildlife such as bushbabies and duikers.
  • After lunch, head to the spice plantations. Zanzibar is known as the Spice Island, and you can learn about the different spices grown here such as cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg. You can also taste some of the spices and enjoy a delicious lunch.
  • In the evening, head to the beach for some more relaxation and water activities. You can also enjoy a beach bonfire and some live music.

Day 3:

  • Start your day with a visit to Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island. Here, you can see the giant tortoises that were brought from the Seychelles in the late 19th century. You can also enjoy some snorkeling and swimming.
  • After lunch, head to Nungwi Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar. Here, you can enjoy some water activities such as jet skiing and parasailing. You can also visit the nearby Mnarani Marine Turtle Conservation Pond and learn about the conservation efforts to protect the endangered sea turtles.
  • In the evening, enjoy a traditional Swahili dinner with some live music and dancing. Swahili cuisine is a fusion of African, Arab, and Indian flavors, and you can enjoy some delicious dishes such as biryani, pilau, and samosas.

I hope this itinerary helps you plan your trip to Zanzibar!
