Itinerary

Here's an ideal itinerary for 3 days in Reykjavik, keeping in mind your constraints:

Day 1:

  • Start your day with a hearty breakfast at one of Reykjavik's many cafes. We recommend Reykjavik Roasters or Kaffi Vinyl for a cozy atmosphere and delicious food.
  • After breakfast, head to the Hallgrimskirkja church, one of Reykjavik's most iconic landmarks. Take the elevator to the top for stunning views of the city.
  • Next, visit the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, a beautiful glass building on the waterfront. Take a guided tour or attend a concert or event.
  • For lunch, try some traditional Icelandic cuisine at Cafe Loki, located across from the Hallgrimskirkja church. Don't miss the rye bread ice cream!
  • In the afternoon, take a dip in one of Reykjavik's many geothermal pools. We recommend the Laugardalslaug pool for its large size and variety of hot tubs.
  • In the evening, head out of the city to hunt for the Northern Lights. There are many tour companies that offer guided tours, or you can rent a car and go on your own.

Day 2:

  • Start your day with a visit to the Perlan Museum, located on a hill overlooking the city. Learn about Iceland's natural wonders and history through interactive exhibits.
  • Next, take a stroll through the Reykjavik Botanical Gardens, located in the Laugardalur valley. Even in the winter, the gardens are beautiful and peaceful.
  • For lunch, try some delicious seafood at Saegreifinn, a small restaurant on the harbor. Don't miss the famous lobster soup!
  • In the afternoon, take a whale watching tour from the harbor. Keep an eye out for humpback whales, minke whales, and dolphins.
  • In the evening, head to one of Reykjavik's many bars for a drink. We recommend Kex Hostel for its cozy atmosphere and live music.

Day 3:

  • Start your day with a visit to the Blue Lagoon, located about 45 minutes outside of Reykjavik. Relax in the warm, mineral-rich waters and enjoy the stunning scenery.
  • For lunch, try some delicious Icelandic hot dogs at Baejarins Beztu Pylsur, located in downtown Reykjavik. They're a local favorite!
  • In the afternoon, take a walk through the city's colorful streets and check out some of the local shops and boutiques.
  • In the evening, head out of the city again to hunt for the Northern Lights. If you didn't see them on the first night, don't worry - they're elusive but worth the effort!

I hope this itinerary gives you a good idea of what to do during your 3 days in Reykjavik. Have a great trip!
