Inverness is a beautiful city located in the Scottish Highlands, and there's plenty to see and do here. Here's an ideal itinerary for 3 days in Inverness:

Day 1:

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at one of the many cafes in the city center. After breakfast, head to Inverness Castle, which offers stunning views of the city and the River Ness. From there, take a stroll along the river and explore the Ness Islands, a group of small islands connected by footbridges. For lunch, try some traditional Scottish cuisine at one of the local restaurants.

In the afternoon, visit the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, which showcases the history and culture of the Highlands. If you're interested in learning more about the area's famous monster, head to the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition. In the evening, enjoy a pint of local beer at one of the city's pubs or catch a show at the Eden Court Theatre.

Day 2:

Today, take a day trip to the nearby Culloden Battlefield, where the final battle of the Jacobite Rising took place in 1746. After visiting the battlefield, head to the nearby Clava Cairns, a prehistoric burial site that dates back over 4,000 years.

Day 3:

On your final day in Inverness, take a scenic drive along the North Coast 500, a 500-mile route that takes you through some of Scotland's most stunning landscapes. Stop off at the Black Isle Brewery for a tour and tasting session, or visit the Glen Ord Distillery to learn about the production of Scotch whisky.

In the afternoon, head back to Inverness and take a leisurely walk along the Caledonian Canal. The canal runs from Inverness to Fort William and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. For your final evening in Inverness, enjoy a meal at one of the city's fine dining restaurants before heading to a local pub for a nightcap.
